How to End Your Child’s Video Game Addiction The Ultimate Guide eBook Amanda Hamwey

Very simple and to the point! I am sure the number of low reviews were from people who are either gaming industry types who are actually worse then drug dealers, people addicted, or people who know it all and don't understand addict or people who expected this book to be a 300 page guide to fix their child. When in fact this is just being brought into the light, and in the next 10 years, I GUARANTEE you this will be A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM then gambling, eating, sex, and love addictions combined, just because of the sheer volume of people with access to internet and the fact it hasn't been seen as the monster it is yet. This book is the very simple hard truth of what needs to be done at whatever time, point, or age you see the signs. The drop in school grades, no interest in other activities, staying up, quitting other things to get home, anger, lashing out, talk of fantasy. I WILL WARN YOU ALL AND TELL YOU DIRECT! THERE IS IN MY OPINION NOTHING GOOD AT ALL ABOUT VIDEO GAMES. THIS INDUSTRY IS SO GREEDY, THEY MAKE THE MAJORITY OF THEIR HIGH END EXPENSIVE GAMES AFTER THEY SUCKED YOU IN WITH THE CUTE MULTI PLAYER KIDS GAMES FOR THE SMALL ONES. IT BECOMES, SINGLE PLAYER SHOOTER, WHICH MEANS THEY SIT AT HOME ALONE, EACH HAVING TO HAVE THERE OWN $400 GAME CONSOLE, $65 GAME, $100 HEADSET, THERE $100 XBOX LIVE SUBSCRIPTION AND SIT ALONE WITH NO SOCIAL INTERACTION GLUED TO A GAME THAT IS MADE SPECIIFICALLY TO ADDICT PEOPLE AND MOST ESPECIALLY CHILDREN. IT IS ALL GOAL, LEVEL, REWARD, INCENTIVE BASED! I think the author does a great job of simply laying out the very small defined facts, and while they may be hard, if you love your kids you will follow to a T! Or burn these damn systems right now, that is the even better choice!

How to End Your Child’s Video Game Addiction The Ultimate Guide eBook Amanda Hamwey Reviews

I myself am addicted to gaming and fight against. Unfortunately I lead my little brother to be the same and I deeply regret. I intend to use these advices to end his addiction and show him another path. Thank you!
I don't personally have kids, but I've been around kids who grew up in front of games - I agree. They're addicted to the expensive, noisy things. They're find for letting off a little steam after a tough day (I can even admit to that) but on a regular, daily basis they're unnecessary. Even the educational games should be played in moderation.
It's a short guide, but gets right to the point and heart of the problem and how to fix it.
As another commenter stated, the grammar/spelling is at times trying, however, I still found the book overall to be very helpful and it pushed us to make the changes needed in our home.
First, this book is a little presumptuous in its title. The author is a young woman with no specific scientific training in the field who has essentially done a bit of research on her own, but does not do a comprehensive review of the scientific literature, does not seem to have the knowledge to evaluate the validity and the strength of the sources she cites (e.g citing Dr. Phil as an expert), and engages in a number of gross overgeneralizations. If this were a research paper I was grading at an undergraduate level, I would probably have graded it as a C or possibly lower. Thus, it is not suitable for the author to claim she is putting forth "The Ultimate Guide." The title is misleading and could lead consumers to buy this book expecting something different. A more proper title would be along the lines of "I did some research and tried some things with my little brother, and it seemed to work okay."

The author offers a subjective list of symptoms and a subjective way to diagnose a gaming addiction. While some of these have some merit, for the most part she just offers her own opinion, and her diagnostic criteria do not really match up with the closest thing in the DSM which is often used to diagnose gaming addictions (compulsive gambling).

The writing in this book is of fairly poor quality. There are spelling and grammatical errors.
I loved this book. I'm 10 (11) and I wanted to come over my addiction. I found this book on my kindle and I read through it. The only thing is can we have a child book for kids to overcome their addictions? Cause this book was directed at adults. But THANK YOU!
I do not have children, but I am very close to my nephew and in the past few months he had become distant and more aggressive. He wasn't even addicted to violent video games, just to gadgets! It was difficult to identify but when it hit me what it was, I set out to find something to help out his parents.

This book not only addresses how to change the behaviour, it also tells you why it happened and how to prevent it in the future. It can also work to help with other addictive behaviour and is quite simple to follow.

I think that it will be very beneficial to anybody struggling with a child who is suffering from addiction. A good read.
My 10 year old son put glasses on a few months ago because of the huge amount of time that he spend in front of a computer screen. That really put some thoughts into my head so I took him to a psychologist to talk to him and try to get video games off his mind. Unfortunately that didn't work so I started searching online for solutions. That's where I found this great book that opened my eyes. I applied some of the strategies listed in this short guide and I am happy to tell you that my beloved son is outside playing football right now! Thank you Amanda Hamwey, you saved my child's childhood!
